ok so here is the deal, when i turn my steering wheel it will go all the way to the stop with minimal input from my hand. like i touch it to go one way and it does the rest by itself to the stop. i have noticed a leaky hose which i will be replacing soon but i'm just curious if there is another issue like a faulty steering box or any other issue that i havent found in the forums. i have a 2000 xj with only a simple ram air mod and a throttle body riser. any help would be grateful because at higher speeds it tends to be annoying when i hit a bump and the wheel just want to go somewhere other than straight. thanks.

i changed the shocks last weekend, they had 147k on them. it was well over due. but the problem with the steering precedes the new shock by a year or more.

My last alignment was 2 years ago and no about the steering box. I am curious about it though. My buddy thinks it might be a valve issue within the box but is unsure. I was thinking it might have gone bad and need a new one or have it rebuilt. This is why I'm here.

There is a thread in here going over how to adjust your steering box. I just did mine about a month ago and it made a big difference. All you need is an open wrench, a screw driver and an allen wrench ( not sure which size). The adjustment screw (a single screw on the top of the box) is under the aux fan so you might need to remove it. Make sure to mark your original placement of the screw with paint or a marker before making adjustments just in case. Adjust in quarter increments. When you are adjusting the screw, hold the nut with the open wrench and tighten with the allen. When you tighten up the nut, hold the screw in place with the allen in place so you keep your adjustment. Like i mentioned earlier, there's a good writeup if my instructions are vague or confusing.

ok i bought a new hose bc one was leaking. ended taking both of them off the steering box bc i could not get wrench to it. appearently its a 18mm which i don't have so a adjustable had to do. now my problem is the return hose will not go back in the hole and when i get it there it looks and feels like cross threading. any suggestions?
