Default Power steering fluid on Tie Rod End rubber boots

My steering gear is leaking power steering fluid. I have a steering gear rebuild kit on order from Rock Auto, and it will arrive in about 5 days.

In the meantime, power steering fluid is leaking onto some new tie-rod-end rubber boots. Will it eat the rubber? Or is that nothing to worry about?

Thanks.

It wont eat your boots. Mine was leaking for a good few months.
Wheres the box leaking at, pitman arm seal or the seal where your steering shaft hooks up to? If its the top seal where the shaft goes to, you have to completely dissassemble the steering box becuase the seal is only removable/installed from the inside. I just got another box, wasnt worth it.

Box is leaking at the pitman arm. Is that an easy fix? I bought a complete rebuild kit, but if I can just replace the bottom seal, then I might do that, and save the kit for later.

Mine is leaking too. Replaced the pump a year ago and put an inline filter in to catch the metal so the new pump wouldn't foul. Now I'm getting a leak on the metal fitting where the high pressure metal line connects to the hose. Can I just fix this connection?>

Its way easier to replace the whole box - $50 from a junkyard.

pitman arm seal is very easy. Just need a pitman arm puller or rent one from a parts store. No need for full rebuild kit or to replace box!!!

Default steering box seal replacement

I had a steering box seal kit for my 97 G. C. Laredo. I looked at the diagram in the box and threw my arms up. Apparently they were showing all the guts to the box. I've been told that this is an easy job and just posting that doesn't help anyone. Can someone post directions or a video on how to do this steering box seal replacement right. Moving the setting on the top adjustment bolt, I've been told, will eventually destroy your box.
