If it's an NSS problem you'll be able to start. No reverse lights tho.
This wire that is cut in your photo and spliced together, is the other end the neutral safety switch that's connected to the transmission? Man I'm having troubles lol

Yes. Consider it a modified NSS:

OK the next step would be the ignition switch. The heater wire tends to melt the switch.

Thanks. I will definitely check this no matter what, but what's your thoughts on the starter relay? Is this easier/cheaper to check/replace?

Another thing I've noticed is oil on a lot of parts in the engine. Where should I start? Battery ground wire? Alternator?...which I think may not be the problem. Any help is greatly appreciated.
http://www.cruiser54.com for info on fixing those grounds. I would steer away from butchering the wiring harness myself and simply test the NSS with a meter. Or just disconnect the connector and jumper the two pins temporarily to test. I wouldn't be surprised at all if it needed removed, cleaned and reinstalled. Hit youtube for a ton of vidios on the NSS. Plenty of places to leak oil. In order of ease to fix and common-ness are the valve cover, then oil filter adapter, and lastly the rear main seal. If the back of the engine block is oily, probably the valve cover. If the starter is oil soaked (and maybe the reason for the new starter?), probably the oil filter adapter.

I felt the same way when I read that.... sorry... made me cringe a little bit to be honest. That could be opening a whole case (not just a single can) of worms for a host of other issues.

Absolutely concur. On me for not mentioning that (I did that, but I guess that's NFG to say now).

If all the other grounds are sound, why is missing that 4 gauge wire going to be a problem? If the engine-to-body straps are sound, isn't the missing wire simply a back-up? I mean, if x doesn't work if that wire is missing, that's GTK.
