Anybody on here own one of those UK type Cherokees with the steering wheel on the passenger side?..The Post Office by me uses one for their deliveries and I always thought it would be cool to own one.

I did a double take the other day at a Cherokee with no driver. Then I noticed the wheel on the right. Kinda threw me there for a few seconds. He was toolin down the interstate.

Being as my whole family has pretty much worked at almost every aspect of the post office. One day I want to build one of the old wrangler mail jeeps:
I think they would pretty good on a small lift with 33's or a huge buggy on 40's. Through ran, sleet, snow, and ice... now including rocks & mud
But ya I see right hand drive cherokees all the time for mail use. You could have ordered them from the factory that way. I also have seen a mail cherokee that a guy converted to a right hand drive.

I saw one once that was a standard left hand drive and they had installed a pully where the steering wheel was and ran a v belt over to the other side where there was a new column. Looked kind of cheesy but i guess it worked for delivering the mail.

My brother n law had one for about 2 years. He got it off his mail lady for 600 bucks then put a BDS 3 inch lift in it with 31's. He wheeled it every weekend and it just kept taking the abuse. It was weird siting on the left side with no steering wheel. Talk about scary when he tried to pass someone. Good times!

Per Chrysler mine was a right hand drive export.... though I havent been able to confirm or deny that. It is currently a left hand drive. I do agree though that it would take a bit of getting used to riding in the "wrong" side. In the newest issue of JP (I believe) there was a RHD XJ at a wheeling event and to screw with people the passenger was holding a magazine in front of his face since most people thought it was a LHD.

My wife and I are proud owners of a RHD Cherokee. She delivers mail for the Post Office as a rural route carrier, I get to maintain and repair the thing when it breaks(often!). Most everything is the same except for hoses and some steering items. It has proven itself rugged and my wife doesn't want to deliver mail in anything else. The 4x4 has been used more than a few times to get out of a deep and muddy ditch. It is kind of fun to mess with people (cops, M.P.'s, other drivers, etc.), but the novelty wears off quickly with all the questions. No, it's not hard to drive. Just let your instincts take over and don't hit anything. Passing a slow car on a two-lane highway is a nightmare unless you really trust your passenger's instincts. We love it though. It makes her good, easy money. And, I have gotten to know the quirks of RHD Cherokees probably as good as anyone in the country!!! It has 180,000+ miles on it. Recently rebuilt transmission, changed the 8.25 for a Dana 35 because the 8.25 had a bad pinion bearing, put polyurethane bushings all the way around, 2 inch lift rear springs, spacers up front, new motor mounts (the right side is different!), several radiators, water pumps, and countless brake jobs about every other month. Someday it will get rear disc brakes, lockers, strobe safety lights, and some other goodies. Someday.

We need pics!!!
I live in a rural area, and there are a few RHD XJ's around here as well as A few RHD TJ's. It seems like when a mail carrier retires/quits they sell it to the next person for an UN-Godly amount if you ask me. I have also seen barely running rusted out DJ5 fetch 2k or more.
I also have a buddy who has a RHD scout Truggy
