Default Possible #3 Transmission Solenoid Issue

Hi everybody. Been awhile since I've been on. Have a 98 Sport, 2WD, 4.0L. So Check Engine Light came on today. Went to AutoZone and codes came back as P0700 and P0743. Driving home did notice i lost OD. Looked online for some diagnostic ideas. Checked the transmission solenoid connector under the hood. Solenoid #1 was 15.9 ohms, #2 was at 15.9, & #3 was at 26.1. Also checked the brake switch and was on the bracket pretty solid. Transmission Fluid level looks OK too. I did check the ohms about 1.5 hours after being on the highway, so engine had cooled down some. So does it look like #3 solenoid is bad, or could be something else?

I had the same codes, replaced the torque converter solenoid that solved the problem. of the three solenoids. two have the same part number and one is different. The one you want is the one with the separate part number. On my 98 Cherokee the solenoid I got from Autozone had a different connector than the OEM. So I had to go to The Jeep Dealership. There was a big difference in price $ 46.00 at Autozone and $245 at the dealership. But the one I got from Chrysler worked without cutting and splicing wires. So I was happy with the OEM one. The job can be done in an afternoon. There are some good write-ups on this and some other jeep forums.

It looks like I will be getting that #3 solenoid. KHester, I supposedly found the part at AutoZone, NAPA, on O'Reillys, with NAPA being the cheapest at $254.I'm afraid to ask the dealership how much they have it.

I have a new to me 99 GC Limited with the same code, no O/D and heavy thunking from the driveshaft or trans when the auto up or downshifts. I believe I also have the same P0743 as well as a couple others.

Did replacing the solenoid help cure your issue? I'd like to be as informed as possible before I go to a trans shop to have it diagnosed.
