Is it possible?
that my 91 Cherokee Limited has a Chryco 8.25 rear axle.
Was underneath it yesterday when I was moving the trailer hitch over to my 98, when I noticed that both diff covers had the rubber plug instead of a metal one. Looked online and the bolt count and rubber plug is the same. Hard to tell the gaskets the same without taking them off.
If so was there any significant difference between 91 and 98? Like say beefier axles or ratio's or something?
My 98 has a noticable ring gear howl (to me anyway) but my 91 is quiet as a church mouse.
Will make switching them a piece of cake and no worry's for me later if they are the same.

should bolt in, BUT if they are both 8.25 the 98 would have the stronger 29 spline and the 91 would have the weaker 27 spline.
Check the metal tag on your front axle diff cover to see if they have the same gears. It will be vertical on the side of the diff cover and will read somthing like 3 07 (manual) or 3 55 (auto) could even be 3 73 if you have a towing package on an auto.

Pretty sure it doesn't have towing package and as much as I like 4 wheeling I'm just gonna use this as a DD so the axles should be OK
