But, I've thought it would be interesting to chop the rear end off a Cherokee and close it up like a crew cab, and add the rear end of a Comanche so it has a decent bed, but that might look like crap. I'd love to see it though, it may look awesome.

Another thought I have is that the chop top reminds me of an Avalanche, and it would be sweet to have it work like one too with a hinged tailgate, removable back glass and make the back portion of the cab onto the back seats, so that when they fold down they create a larger bed and whatever you throw in there doesn't tear up the fabric. Maybe even have a removable cover for the bed too.
Never thought about adding the back bed. Merge the back of an mj cab with the back of the xj rear doors, extend the "frame", and add the bed. Might look cool. I've considered the full chop like the grey pic above but weld the rear doors, close in the seams, and shave the rear door handles. Then you'd have a 2 dr the length of a 4 dr and if you god mad skill you could fab in the 2 dr xj doors. Are 4 dr and 2 dr xj's the same overall length?

So you'd chop it especially having kids? Why? Curious... And yes the doors would be removable. My jeep sees more pavement than anything right now so I think no doors and no roof would be awesome for cruising with the family

They're the same length. In fact, the XJ was originally designed with 2 doors, the 4 door version was a last minute modification. I like the roll cage of the grey one. If it were me, I'd keep the same lines as the stock roof rather than slope the rear.

Seriously did not realize they were the same length. The 2 dr just looks shorter. No I was gonna do a square cage all the way to the back. I don't like the 45 degree hatch back look. So that's a chop or don't chop? Lol

Oh yeah, chop for sure. In my mind a soft top XJ would be awesome.

I choped my 95 and put an exo on it. Now I don't like it at all. Would only chop a 2door from now on. And this winter my 95 is becoming a tube buggy. By then ill have a computer and be able to post picks and the choped shell and exo will be free to any one who will give her a good hone. People say its like a hummer on sairoids. I hate hearing that!

i meant having kids i would do it like the gray one because of the full cage i have a 6 and 4 yr olds and when i chop the top on mine it will be caged just because it will make me feel better knowing it will be safe to have my family in
