hi guys, i live in england and have a 99 xj cherokee, it's a 2.5 turbo diesel sport. it has about 140,000mls on the clock.

i've never owned a 4x4 nor a diesel. the things is that the tappets/lifters seem quite noisey, i've checked the oil level and it's absolutely fine, the oil pressure is fine to. it had a service about 6mths ago and they seemed a little better (not much). but now the winter's here and it seems alot worse.

can anyone shine a light on the problem here? or are they all noisey engines? if you could help i'd really appreciate it. thanks guys.
