Pictures and Video!! Cam gear shearing gear teeth on cam sensor? Help please!!
Gear on the cam in the block.
CamPS/ oil pump drive/ synchro.
Video on the way, I have to install the synchro and time it.
2000 Cherokee. 175,XXX Miles.
But alright, so I had to drill and tap my CamPS retainer bolt in the block to a 3/8ths. After the original CamPS retainer bolt broke off in the block.
I had a feeling there was more to it then just a bolt breaking.
So now when the car is running at idle (worst wobble)
the entire cam synchronizer / oil pump drive
wobbles back and forth.
Im not talking about like a vibration,
Im talking about an insane amount of wobble. (video coming shortly)
It seems like the teeth on the two gears arent lining up properly.
The CamPS goes into the block fairly easily.
But while running, it will cause the issue that will spin the CamPS enough to throw off timing of the spark.
(bolt was torqued to spec, And I'd rather not over tighten it after having to already drill and tap after the OE bolt broke in there)
Im scarred for obvious reasons. Breaking a new $400 dealer part,
What are some possible issues here?

First thought was the harmonic balancer, which I checked and appears to be good to me. The rubber is a little dry rotted inbetween the two pieces. But its still inbetween and not popping out.
I should also add:
The original cam synchro/ pump drive had a strange failure, the little tab on the top of the synchro (that the cam sensor uses to time spark) managed to break loose and spin freely.
#2 Cam Synchro. pump drive Napa part. And this one managed to break the gear loose off the shaft.
(gear is only riveted and not press fit like dealer pieces)
This is #3 Cam Synchro, and it appears to be having very similar issues as the last 2.
and that would be the gear that spins both of them

I did drive about 30 miles from my job after I noticed the synchro moving around so much.
Im wondering if theres something that would change the camshaft rotation angle.
Like a shim or spacer somewhere?

Im pretty sure it was a high volume oil pump, I think it was the same price as the regular one.
edit:
Is it possible that the high volume pump has a slight difference in the shaft that spins it?
Napa workers reassured me that the pump was identical.
And I even made sure to compare the pumps side by side.
Or if thats not it can I ask why you asked that? I know youre the pro here

Yup snug as a bug in a rug.
Going to see if I can find the OE camPS/Synchro/oil pump drive. And compare the teeth on them.
I have to drive this car to work today, So I will get that video up shortly also ha

Left is the one that came in the car, Right with the sensor is the one I have been using in the car for the past couple months. Is my mind playing tricks on me?
Also Im pretty sure there is no difference in the way the oil pump drive slot goes into the oil pump, Is this true? Or is one side of the drive different from the other?

Oil pump is bad.
Funny how it was on the tip of all of your tongues haha
How should I sue Napa for this one

Thanks to everyone who helped me I appreciate it more than you will ever know.

Part Number: SEP 22443505 (high volume)
DO NOT BUY EITHER OF THE ABOVE^
