So I had a mechanic accidentally break the Oil Pressure Sensor off and since then replaced and keep getting the Check Gauges light on.
I noticed when I went to inspect it since I thought it wasn't completely inside all the way (and it wasn't completely in all the way), the part was inserted, turned but left with it's bottom facing on top causing him to twist the wiring harness to go inside bottom side up as well.
After I noticed that, I disconnected the wiring harness and turned the Oil Pressure Sensor the correct way up, connected it back and then the Jeep wouldn't start nor were any gauges coming on. Battery is good. Went back out and then noticed those wires were twisted together and touching each other. I straightened them out and Jeep turns on, but still shows the Check Gauges light and the Oil Temp gauge is just a little over 0. Same way as I started the day off with trying to solve the issue.
When the Jeep runs the Check Gauges light turns off but when it's in idle it comes on.
Questions:
Could it be that these wires are malfunctioning and are they supposed to touch (I guess overtime the protective wire wrap around the wiring came off)?
Could it be that I got a bad Oil Pressure Sensor?
Will a 1997 Jeep Cherokee Oil Pressure Sensor fit on a 2001 Jeep Cherokee? It looks slightly different. That's if the original Oil Pressure Sensor on the 2001 is faulty I could try the '97 but still doesn't explain the actual wiring harness on the other end.
Photos show the current way they're sitting after the whole twist and turn issue. Any thoughts would help!
It looks like the wires got yanked out of the connector, rather than the insulation coming off. That would explain why it' still not working. The easiest and quickest fix is splicing on a new connector.
The wires likely got damaged like that due to the bad vibes of a Fram filter......
My first jeep had a Fram filter one it once, it snuck into my bedroom one night and tried to smother me with a pillow. Those Fram filters are bad news man.
HAHA, thanks for all the feedback guys! @cruiser54@Mortgage Payer@Veeb0rg@lawsoncl
I'm honestly not too familiar with oil filters and vehicles in general, have done some repairs on my own but live and learn right. Going to look up these Fram filters, lol.
