So the infamous problem leaking right? Well no matter what I try including all the steps that are in the forum, either the rear main leaks or I I have a gaiping hole on my valve cover. If its plugged up to the intake it leaks out the rear main. If its not well then it leaks out the hole. Y'all think its time or a new rear main?

You should fill out your info so we can see what you have. That front vent should not be plugged! (you see what happens). It's suppose to be routed to the rear of the air cleaner, Napa sells that. My (new to me), 90 just drenched it's air filter when I hooked mine up correctly, likely gonna try cruisers valve cover mod, see if that helps. (cruisers tips is right on top in my sig). Good luck, that should help!

Can confirm that the vcg mod works, def saw about 30-40% less oil in my air box after doing it. It still gets soaked but it isn't bad.
What was weird though was when I did mine, I noticed there were already holes drilled at the top of the vent tubes (looked factory) which kinda surprised me, but I still trimmed them down by like half, and that seems to have helped quite a bit.

OK! In any case it needs to be free to vent or crankcase pressure will be a problem. (pissing RM ect.) To be legal for smog, it's routed to the intake. In the 'old days', they used a 'road draft tube', sometimes cut at a 45* angle down there so air rushing past could create some vacuum. You could rout yours into the intake somewhere...

So far you've got "plugged up to the intake" Which hose are you working with, the front one to your Spectre intake?
Ever replace the rear hose and fittings? They like to clog after 20 years!
Kinda surprised you're leaking out the rear main and not the dipstick.

Salid, I confess, I stuck an actual cork in mine many years ago. Yes, the RM WILL pis, enough to make a cloud behind. Because the oil hits the exhaust pipe where it crosses over, right behind the pan. Bank on that one!.... A fire hazard actually. It can build up on that crossover section, with dust, that could light. EOJ. (End Of Jeep).

Definitely make sure that both hoses coming off the valve cover are breathing and routed where they are supposed to go. As Dflinstone said, if they are plugged up, the pressure will force oil out the RMS and on to the exhaust and become a fire hazard.

Do you guys not have drip pans?
I know it's not a good thing, but mine still leaks because I keep putting off doing the pan gasket/rms, but the drip pan will keep the drips behind the exhaust by a good 8 inches or so...
I mean some MIGHT get onto the exhaust, but nothing like my truck or a few other previous cars did when the RMS was going, which was directly onto the exhaust where it crossed over. The drip pan on my XJ seems to its job pretty well though.

Have any of you guys tried or thaught about a catch can? I had one on my Vette for my LS1 and it did a great job catching the oil. That plus the mod should lower crank pressures and keep oil out of the intake.
I think I will put one on and try it.
WDYT?

I have thought about it, but after doing everything I could to lower the amount of oil into the air box, I now just live with it. My baby loves her oil in her air mixture after getting addicted to it the past 20+ years, so I just let her sip on it from now on. There's nothing wrong with a bit of oil in there, and air filters are cheap.

It IS possible to fab a stainless steel bracket off the rear valve cover bolt, and sweat 1/2 copper, to run it down back behind, (where it then, of course, connects to the tube back up to the air cleaner).

Yes it runs off the front of the intake so its hitting the throttle body bad enough where oil is seeping out. Now if its just the open hole the rear main doesn't leak but I have the big hole lol
