Default Passanger brake lock up.

I have a 91 cherokee xj, and every time i shift into 4H my passanger brakes locks up at 5 mph, I can put it back into 2H and stomp the breaks and the wheel unlocks and moves fine, what is causing this problem?

Locking into 4 high or 4 low is not a caliper problem! Do you have the cad system on it ?
If so, your best place to start looking is the Central Axle Disconnect, Poss bent fork although i wouldn't be inclined to think that it would be able to lock up the wheel if it is bent- broken-misaligned so on and so forth. But you never know until you look!! The other thing that comes to mind is a bad passenger side bearing, and would explain the fact that it locks up when you engage the transfer case! Let us know--

you know what i hate, when people automatically assume a caliper is hanging up. I have NEVER seen a caliper go bad unless it as leaking. The only thing I see causing it to hang up is hose. Jack up the side in question and try to spin the wheel. If it is locked or hard to spend crack the bleader loose and see if it is still hard to spin. if it is still hard then its a caliper, If it is easy to spin then there is a blockage in the hose that is causing the caliper not to retract.

I have seen to many times a "mechanic" Say a caliper is bad and then the car come back a day later with the same problem. Check the hose, don't ASSUME it is a caliper

X2 I've only seen one caliper stick in my 25 year history as a mechanic. That was only because the owner on the half ton truck was hauling a horse trailer down a steep grade and melted the seals in the calipers.

x2 on radio flyers post. why would the caliper only hang up in 4h and not 2wd? i thought the brakes got used in both 4wd and 2wd check your fork and axle on that side.
Seen calipers hang up before but its usually from dry slide pins.
