I have replaced the TPS three times. Two junk yard units that ohm'd out fine, but didn't work and finally bought a brand new one and that fixed my not shifting at all problem.

I also calibrated the TPS by the 83% rule, and it does feel more snappy and has good throttle response (except at throttle tip in) with that done and the new 2.4L injectors (I don't know why people call them neon injectors. The only neon with a 2.4L motor is the SRT4, and those are not 19lbs/hr injectors).

Also, after thinking about it, I haven't tested or replaced my EGR. I've taken it off and inspected it, but I've never tested it.

I'm not sure if I am having the same problem or not but here is my issue: I have a 98 Grand Cherokee with the 5.9 v8. When I start it, it's fine. Then I will drive down the road, and it will begin sputtering and the rpm's will start to go very low but it WON'T stall out. The RPM's go to its lowest point and I have to turn around and go back home. When I hit the gas, it sputters a whole bunch until I get back into the driveway. When I pull in the drive and throw it in park, it sputters still and the RPM's go very low. I took my air filter off while it was still running and it seem that the butterfly in the throttle body is not opening up at all and its hissing loudly due to the lack of air flow. However, when I hit the gas to open it up, it sputters...
Not sure what this could be or if it is a quick simple fix. Any suggestions would be fantastic, this Jeep is my daily driver and I need it to be running for work tomorrow!

bumping for some help..cleaned the throttle body with cleaner. that did nothing. now my gas petal is really hard to push. I think I may have hurt it just now more than I did help it. I sprayed throttle body cleaner on it and wiped it with a rag. Help! I don't know what else to do!

Ok, gas petal screwed up because a wire on the throttle came off. Fixed that. Took my IAC out and cleaned it really well. Did not fix the problem. It starts just fine but then when I drive it, it slowly begins to start sputtering and I have to turn around and go home. When I open the hood, my butterfly(carburetor?) is closed and barely any air is making it through, causing it to hiss loudly. All the while it is sputtering and the RPM's are jumping. Eventually, it stalls out. I cleaned the butterfly with throttle body cleaner, but did not take the throttle body off and clean it...I guess that is my next big task...someone PLEASE help! I need my baby back up and running for work! Any help would be appreciated.

Did you test the tps? They get flat spots off idle as they get older which causes this.

Ok, just replaced the TPS, but now my idle RPM is 200..and when I drive, its not sputtering, but its still running at a low RPM when I let off the gas.

Ok, replaced the TPS and I guess that only prolonged the sputtering. It started sputtering again and the rpms were going crazy after I drove it up the street twice. When idling, it sits between 2 and 500. its a 98 grand cherokee with the 5.9.

Not that I can see, its just two screws on the side of the throttle body, with an electrical plug connected to it.

Have you tested your map sensor and 02 sensors. The iac I believe would cause you to stall out a bad map would cause you to run rough.
