So I changed my injectors out with the neon injectors on my '90 Pioneer a while back. I had issues with a high idle which I have since fixed. Part of my idea to the solution when I had the high idle, was to remove the neon injectors and replace the factory ones, since the high idle started after this procedure. I noticed when I pulled out the neons to put in the factory ones, a couple of the the plastic "hat pieces" circled in red in the photo were missing? I'm pretty positive they were on when I put them in. I tried to take one off by hand but they are on there pretty good, so i don't see how they could've came off? I tried looking in the injector holes and didn't see them stuck. If they did fall all the way in would they be burned up in the combustion chamber?
Now that my idle is back to normal i would like to put them back in. I have a couple of extra ones with plastic piece, to replace the ones that were lost. I assume since my factories went back in without leaks or troubles I should be alright?
I thought about taking the intake manifold off to check it out. Just want some oppinions i guess!

Those "hats" are called pintle caps. You can get a whole injector rebuild kit from ebay for about $20 which includes o-rings, filters, and pintle caps. If the pintle caps were on when you put them in and were off when you pulled them out, then I'd remove the manifold and take a look. You don't want those getting sucked in and burned up.

I guess that is part of my question as well. What would happen if they did get sucked up a burned? It's been a while since I changed them out and nothing has happened. Not really sure how the intake manifold is set up as far as injection mechanics. Looks to me like the rim on the pintle cap should keep them from falling all the way in? And if they were stuck that the factory injectors wouldn't seat correctly and there would be leaks? Is there a chance that if I take the manifold off they could just be sitting inside there. If I remember correctly I think I lost 2.
