Default Map sensor failed - again

Map sensor failed i July. I replaced it with a NGK/NTK from RockAuto. Today that one failed too?

What causes this?

That's weird. Should be good for a decade or more. Maybe your wiring is in poor condition? Check the grounds. They often get overlooked.

I just wonder if it can have something to do with me pressure washing the engine bay the evening before. Maybe some water came into the air cleaner opening.

Could that be an explanation?

I would guess it was water getting into the sensor thru the electrical connector. I destroyed a throttle position sensor that way.

Yup, a pressure washer is a great way to inject water into connectors and sensors. The throttle position sensor is particularly sensitive to water intrusion.

Oh, that's bad. Pressure washers and engine bays should be strangers.
