painting the jeep black
i already have my interior blacked out with black leather seats and black everything and i have a sweet visor it....i have limmo tint....but everything outside is red and chrome.....so i went to town and bought 12 things of glossy black spray paint! and i got vht tail light tint to complete it..........any advice on goin about painting the jeep!?

my factory pain job is toast haha my roof is pink and its got paint chipping and scratched to hell!! haha im pretty excited! i will post before and after pics....im leaving the chrome so its chrome and black.....the same as my interior my jeep is gonna look like a ninja! or better yet swat!!!

If you can get an air driven DA sander, that would be best. I'd go rough at 80, then move to like 120, then 220, and then 400 grit before layering primer. If you can get some higher build stuff, even better. Then 400 grit before your top coat. For a quickie-crappy, it'll be passable. I recommend either a solid clear coat, a matte finish on top of it all, depending on the look you are after. If you are rocking poof can... grab some PJ-1 clear coat...epoxy based, and really tough... holds up well to fuel and all that junk.
Personal recommendation. I am not a pro by any stretch of the imagination... most of my experience is from painting motorbike bits, which are small and easier to work with most times.

Yes it looks good black. But I say either have someone professionaly paint it or have it painted in Bedliner like I did. My paint job went to **** after 9yrs. and I didnt want to worry about it anymore. Coolest thing I've done to it.
