I don't have any idea, but I know I can't afford to pay someone else to do it.
So....I started asking questions, started taking things apart, started buying a few body tools, and taking panels off & pounding out dents.
I bought a lot of 220 grit paper, some body putty and a lot of elbow grease. LOL
I talked to a body shop owner & he recommended a single stage urethane. It's durable and easy to appy. When I went to the paint shop they said a lot of people buy high-density rollers & roll it on. I wouldn't dare do that.
My nephew has a compressor & a nice gun, so I plan to use that.
I've put a ton of hours in sanding, grinding, patching a few areas, but am getting closer to laying down a primer/sealer.
I'm still debating to have someone else do it, but I know that prep work is a lot of the cost of a decent paint job, so I figure my labor is cheaper than a shops. Even if they have to do some sanding, I know I got it close.
Here's what I've done so far. It's not hard, just time consuming.

Same color, gunmetal.
I know what you're saying, I've got mine in the garage & it hasn't been driven since I brought it home. Will the landlord allow you to do work in the parking lot?
If not, try to find someone that is willing to let you park it for awhile & work on it. If you want a good paint job it's like anything else, you get what you pay for.
This XJ I bought had some areas that didn't have primer or sealer, they just sprayed the finish coat on because it was quick & easy. Probably stood up for awhile, but when I hit it with sandpaper it was obvious what a poor job it was.
Maybe it's me or my age, but I get a lot of enjoyment doing the work myself. I work on it a little at a time, OBA, Paint, frontend parts. To me that's what makes it fun; working on it & seeing progression.
Good luck with your rig!
