I just wanted to make a post hopefully it helps others. I got my Cherokee at 114k miles. It now has roughly 150k. It has the P0740 CEL code since I got it. It would go away from time to time only to cover back. I didn't know at the time but a noise/vibration that seemed to come from the drive shaft was a symptom of that code. It ended up being the torque converter. I had replaced the ATF over five times and while I had very clean fluid. The issue remained. I was getting stuck in 4th gear at cruising speeds of 70mph and 2500 RPM. With the new TC, it now locks into Overdrive around 45mph and I cruise at 70mph at 2250 RPM. Gains me roughly 3 mpg I've found on long highway drives. Hope this helps someone.
