P0204 fuel injector circuit open
My 2000 Jeep Cherokee's pulling up a p0204 code, fuel injector circuit open on cylinder 4, MIL is on w/o blinking. Previously, a rodent had chewed through the cable between the circuit and the connector and I was getting a cylinder misfire, so I rewired the connector and it was fine. Then the thing came apart because it was a half-assed job and I had to drive it to a NAPA 1.5 miles to buy a new connector but this time cylinder 4 wasn't running at all instead of just a misfire (MIL was blinking). It ran real rough all the way. I replaced the connector, and now instead of misfire or not firing at all, it says that the circuit is open, but it runs smooth and seems to be working.
So, I'm wondering whether I should be concerned and whether the 1.5 miles I drove it w/o the cylinder firing at all might have damaged the fuel injector to the point that I get the p0204. Connections on the new connector are tight, no corrosion, and the wires are wired properly.
Any ideas?
