I have hydro locked my inline 6 and since then Ive had this imbalance n the motor that causes it to be a lot louder sounding and the weird thing is that I never bent a rod and it doesn't tick or anything just loud! But yes I overheat past 210 regularly but she still runs pretty damn strong! I'm at 143000 miles on mine!!

If a component of your cooling system is leaking, do NOT use a stop leak product for the cooling system. (or any other system for that matter)

Major components of the cooling system are radiator, water pump, thermostat and mechanical fan clutch.

Other components that are considered "routine maintenance" are radiator hoses, radiator cap, and heater hoses.

If you are "overheating", are you going by the gauge or is the coolant actually boiling over in the overflow bottle? If it is not actually boiling over, verify temperature with an infrared temperature gun. If it reads differently than the gauge, you have a faulty temperature sending unit or dirty connections.

Do NOT use any sort of stop leak product. Yes, I know I said that already but I cannot stress it enough. NO STOP LEAK PRODUCTS. Bite the bullet and replace.

Just a few thoughts. Mainly applies to the open cooling systems of HO 4.0s. Renix is a different story.

Maybe the title/subject of the thread should be re-worded to "The problem is overheating and here's what I've done so far". It's rare to see a overheat thread where the OP says they have completed maintenance and replaced cooling components.

A pattern could be.....older water cooled cars combined with owners/drivers out on their own for the 1st time.....they just don't know (been taught) what maintenance needs to be done and when.
