Overheating Problem

Default Overheating Problem

I have a 92 jeep cherokee 2wd. I have been having some overheating problems. I'm hoping someone can help me. When you start the jeep it seems to reach 210 regularly, but after it reaches 210 it seems to rise pretty quicky. I pulled over one day to check it and the resivor was overflowing and the hoses were extremly hot. I have changed the T-stat, heater control valve, some of the hoses. If anyone has heard of this or maybe know how to fix it I would appreciate it greatly. Thanks

Check the clutch fan, it should have some resistance turning it by hand, if it spins like its on a bearing the clutch is bad.


3 Core New Radiator will cure the heat unless you've already got it hot and cracked a head or blown a head gasket.

These Jeeps have some of the smallest radiators I've ever seen for the sive of the engine. It doesn;t take much scale build up internally to loose its cooling ability.

x2 on the rad. I replaced mine with an all metal 2 row, and when I pulled the stock 1 rower out, my jaw dropped. It is one of the most dinky radiators I have ever seen.

if it all the sudden jumps, may have an air pocket, worked on a cougar that had the same problem, just ended up burping the system while running and hot a few times.

don't do a 3 row rad unless you're going to a much better fan setup. 2 row or aluminum
