Default Overheating - IR gun

Where is the best place to measure your temp gauge reading with an IR gun? here is what I get...

With gauge at 235
Thermostat housing= 200
At CTS= 197
Radiator Cap= 154
Overflow bottle N/A
Top of valve cover (rear) = 181
Upper rad hose= 182
lower rad hose= 166
intake manifold= 192
cylinder head at #2 = 198
cylinder head at #3 = 198
cylinder head at #6= 206

with gauge at 225

Thermostat housing= 185
At CTS= 195
Radiator Cap= 138
Overflow bottle 170
Top of valve cover (rear) = 175
Upper rad hose= 175
lower rad hose= 158
intake manifold= 190 at rear
cylinder head at #2 = 195
cylinder head at #3 = 195
cylinder head at #6= 200

I can get the exact reading of my gauge on the thermostat housing by the exhaust manifold. Its where the head and housing meet but I am not sure if that is good place to measure because obviously the closer I get to the exhaust manifold the hotter the temp gets.
From the looks of it I am not overheating but I just want to be sure...any help would be greatly appreciated.
