So i am 99% sure the problem is fixed. even though i have not changed my my lower rad hose or flushed the system. i took a better look at my aux fan. it would run strong when i would crank the jeep and check it. but after the motor would get hot it would slow down. i could actually stop it with my finger, it would end up running that slow. so i changed the fan and it has not gone above 210 yet. i still have to test it off road but for now in the normal places or drives where the temp would run higher, it has not. so thank you everyone for your help, i have learned a hell of a lot just from this thread.

It happened to me while it was sitting at idle with AC on. It normally runs about 210, but shot up to 250-260 in about two seconds. I shut it off and checked everything I could quickly. I gave it a little while to cool down then started home. It happened again so I pulled over and let it cool down. On the road again and it went up again. This time I was on bridges going through a swamp, no where to pull over. I drove about 30-45 seconds longer and it dropped back to 210 just as fast as it went up. I limped home and do some more checks. Fan is good, comes on about 200, runs strong. It ran about 15 minutes at idle before it happened again. I was able to check the hoses quickly. The top was just like before, but the bottom was very hard, much firmer than before it got hot. Any ideas? T-stat?

Holy back from the dead thread Batman!
It's real easy to test the t-stat in a pan of water on top the stove using a cooking thermometer. U can see what temp i begins to open, see what temp is reached when wide open and see how smoothly/slowly it opens/closes between the closed temp and the wide open temp. Do not toss it into boiling water.....doing so will tell u virtually nothing.

Swapped the T-stat, no luck. Let it idle for about 20 minutes before it got hot. Quickly checked the hoses and fans (mechanical and electric). Hoses were all firm, the bottom hose was almost hard, much firmer than sitting static. Electric fan was running strong and fast. Applied a slight amount of resistance to it to check and it continued to turn.
Any more ideas? Could that lower hose being so hard be an indication of something?
