i am still getting some gnarly overheating problems...
started with the thermosthat, still overheated, and went to the water pump still over heating.
i really need to know how to properly put anti-freeze in my motor because i have no clue how due to no radiator cap
and its way up in the air as well but the sending unit for the coolings system cant quiet put a name for it but is it a possiblity?

mix antifreeze and water 50/50.
for over heating, check your radiator fins. Are they packed with dirt or mud? Are the fins bent? are you sure your getting coolant flow through the engine?

He is talking about renix cooling system.....can't pour it in a radiator cap because there isnt one. I am kind of curious about this myself. I have just been pouring it into the pressure bottle thing.
Yeah, check the fan clutch....should be pretty tough to turn by hand after the engin has been run and is hot. If it is easy to turn replace it.....I think that's the very first thing I changed out in my Jeep and it helped a lot.
My Jeep doesnt burp it farts.....
I didn't burp it though I am not 100% sure how its suppose to be done...someone said jack it up from the back and something about drilling a hole somewhere.

You can drill a little hole in the top of you tstat,or park down hill and open the pressure bottle with the heater on running ,thats how I did mine.
Yeah I figured it would be something that would have to be done while replacing the t-stat anyway.
With the parking downhill part and burping it, that is something I can do tomorrow even if the weather isnt the best for anything else.
Just one last question, about burping it, how do I know air is coming out?
Fill the pressure bottle past the stem and look for bubbles?

another way of burping the system is pull the plug at the rear of the engine on the drivers side its close to the CPS plug, just pull it and run the engine for a bit and that gets the air bubbles out of the block. there should be a wire connected to it

got a lot of replies, with the major overheating problem i am getting it seems like the engine is not taking any coolant what so ever! and i almost blew a motor cuz of it
i got a pretty steep drive as well so to burp it after i get the coolant in just take the freeze plug out and run it? not too sure how all that works out and i have seen a few times with the closed cooling system to change the radiator out with a newer xj? if so any write ups on that?
john
