While out getting a rear hatch i found a 91 cherokee with a very nice overhead console. I took it out with brackets along with the temp sensor and was kind of stumped on what to do with the rest of the wiring. Will the 2001 xj have all the wiring?? I mean i would love to use it but dont want to rip out my headliner and see i have no connector and waste my time.

 

The overhead consoles used in the 1st and 2nd gen xj's are differant because of the roof contour I'm sure you could get it to work but I'd sell that one and find one for a 97+ they used them in a lot of mopars like the caravans and durangos. O yeah you can get the lights to work by wiring them into the original dome lights that's what I did in my 89

 

Ok thanks. Thats what i figured. I thought i'd grab it and sell it if that was the case. But should the wire harness for the console be there tho for me year?

 

For the '01, you will be pre-run with wires for the OHC up to the passenger kick panel. You need a 97+ console, wiring, and bracket to get a fully functioning OHC in your '01. If you get one from an '00 or '01, the color will be an exact match, and you won't need to modify the wire harness. If you get one from a '99, the color will match, but the wire harness will need modification. If you get one from a '97 or '98, the color may not match, and the wire harness will need modification. Anything before that won't have all the functions in the OHC (you will be limited to compass & temp only).
