i dont know if you are having the same problem or not but i just drove 150 miles today on the highway and i got to a gas station opened the hood and felt the upper radiator hose, it was hot so i went to touch the lower it was cool. the heat works great almost burnt my eyeballs out last night. its still only at 150 degrees, i replaced the thermostat when i got it in may. any ideas? bad thermostat? should i do a radiator flush?

Does your heater work? Can u borrow a scan tool to verify coolant temp? U could be getting a false reading from the temp gauge.

Your getting too much coolant flow. Check the t-stat, if its stuck open (rare unless you have a fail safe t-stat) replace.

To check that its not opening too soon. Remove t-stat. Put some water in a pot and place on the stove. Use a thermometer to verify the water temp. Put the t-stat into the pot of water and then turn the oven on. At 195* the t-stat should open.

humm..I had a "fail" safe and it stuck open...and replaced that with a superstat. And before all that a cheap one from auto zone. so I go thought a lot of thermostats. Any other "better" brands out there?

I really like Stant, never had any problems with them. Napa carries them or you can use their website to locate a local dealer.
