opinions on tires
so my 3 inch RC lift kit is on its way and im planning on buying a fresh set of tires very soon. ive been looking at a lot of pro comps, BFG's, general grabbers and i cant decide on what to get! i need an all terrain tire bcz its primarily street driven but i off road on the weekends and im on a high school budget. im looking for 31's and i already have p235 75r15's on my cragar 15x7 d windows. I also want to know if some 31x 12.5 would fit without rubbing. if they will rub then ill just settle for 31 x 10.5 but i like the aggressive look of tires sticking out the fender wells. sorry for the speech but im very indecisive!! thanks in advance

Mastercrafts are pretty good, and cheap. I have the Mastercraft Courser MSR. Its a no name brand made by Cooper.

go with BFG A/T or BFG Km2... and 31 x12.5,, so what if they rub,,, it will probably only rub against your lower control arm at full turn
and its looks more aggresive

Maxxis bighorns are rated to drive on streat with minimal wear. Just like the BFG KO's..... Google and Ebay are your best friend. I think there still is a guy selling 5 on ebay with free shipping

X 2, on Maxxis Bighorn option. I have 33x12.50s on my XJ and I love them!!!!!!!!!
If you want to run a 12.50 wide anything on your XJ it is going to rub with your OEM rims...unless you invest in 1.5" spacers. Now if you're getting different rims at the same time as your tires, just get a rim with 3.75-4.00" backspacing and you'll be golden.

i already do have 4 inch backspacing on my 15x7 cragar d windows. i think ill just stick with 10.5 wide bcz with 12.5 it will really kill my mpg. so im stuck between BFG t/a ko, cooper stt (are these mud terrain?), maxxis bighorns, general grabbers, wrangler duratracs...ahhh! so many choices and so little experience with any of these.

Roller, what crack are you smoking? Please pass the pipe. If you think from 10.5 to 12.5 will be that much of a determining factor put the pipe down. It won't be like you are losing anything significant. If 10 miles is that much, maybe we can start a charity fund for you.
If anything, go for the 12.5 because the minute you are offroading and NEED that extra side tread traction, that's when it matters. If you drive it like you stole it, then you might have issues, but I really doubt you will be noticing any major difference.

Ranger is right. Tire width makes very very little if any difference in mpg. NOW, tire height makes ALL the difference in mpg....espeically when you go bigger and keep the stock axle gears.
