OME lift with RE shocks
i was wondering if anyone has ran the leaf packs from OME with a set of rubicon express shocks? i know this seems like a dumb question- but most people by the same brand shocks as their lift cause most shocks are tuned for that companies lifts. just wondering if anyone has any experience or feedback. i priced my lift parts yesterday and its cheaper to run RE monotubes than it would be to grab a set of OME. plus i have been reading OME shocks are pretty soft, where as the RE monotubes are plush but alittle stiffer than the OMEs. which is what i want- since its a daily driver and id like to alleviate body roll.
thanks for the feedback! |
you will be ok if u run them
|
i dont know, but i run the opposite of this haha. people mix and match lift parts all the time though and it seems to work for them.

just figured id ask... seems people get anal with their OME kits and will only run OME shocks.

You will be fine..

Cuz old man emu coils and shocks are designed to work together. It's part of why it rides and handles so well. Doesn't hurt to use another shock though.

Not really. They dont sell "XJ ONLY" shocks. All of their shocks are universal. They're good stuff, but not the end-all-be-all. RE Monos will be just as good.
When developing shock absorbers, Old Man Emu takes all these factors into consideration. This is reflected in the superb structural integrity of Nitrocharger shocks, along with the fact they are properly valved for the conditions they will be required to work under. This experience in setting the most appropriate valving is what really sets the Nitrocharger apart from its competitors. OME engineers have extensive knowledge in this field as they specialize in nothing else but 4WD suspension systems. When developing a shock absorber, consideration is given to both original equipment and OME springs. In many cases, several shock absorber applications will be listed for one vehicle to ensure the proper match regardless of spring selection, installed accessories or load carrying requirements. While OME Nitrochargers will improve overall ride performance when fitted with standard springs, more substantial benefits can be achieved when fitted in conjunction with OME springs. Improved ride, load carrying characteristics, and wheel travel are all benefits of such a combination. |
Way to do your homework there, MUDD:thumbsup:Just the facts, no opinions allowed...

You can write anything on your site, I'm just telling you that the shocks are simply are pretty much universal. They don't have "Cherokee 3" Lift Shocks" they have "OME LT-342" or some other numbers. |

Rocky Road's site says you can run 5" of lift on stock control arms, and that long arms make your Jeep handle like a skateboard.

I've done quite a bit of research on shocks actually. OME shocks are just Monroe Gasmatics anyway.

i know of several people who run ome springs but not shocks, only because if you use b.p.e most say not compatable with ome shocks.
i run difrent brands front to rear, and thats only cause they came along for the right price at the right time, and im chuffed with the way mine handles, no better no worse than any other jeep ive been in with a setup like mine. j |
