Default Ok to hot wire fuel pumo for driving?

I changed the fuel pump and now i get no power in the circuit to it. Go figure.

It starts then dies after a second or two. The ballast relay gets power. I checked the fuse(Ign) and one side has power as well.

I back probed the center pin(87a) of the relay and its dead. I swapped it with other relays to no effect. there is power getting to it though. I checked the lug and got no resistence on either side of the plug for the ballast relay.

I hot wired the pump and it runs.

Question is until i get this figured out i need to use a few times. Is there an issue with driving it with a wire directly to the fuel pump(15 amp in line fuse)?

If i try and jump(30and 87) the fuel pump relay nothing happens.

and it should be jumped anyway, just another potential thing to go wrong.

So do you have 12v at pin 30 at the relay socket? If so I would jump 30/87 then go to the ballast resistor and see if you have the voltage there too.
If you do but the pump still isn't running you either have a bad ballast resistor or a short between it and the pump.

And I don't see any problem with h ardwiring it if you need to.

Thanks for the replies,,,,
I couldn't get a circuit form the ballast resistor the fuel pump. Did a new wire from the inside near the fuel pump wiring grommet to the fire wall. Bingo. Shes running fine.

Did you check the 30a fuse under the hood? I think it says "engine control" or something like that. I had a similar problem and it was the fuse.

Renix doesn't have underhood fuses.
