Default oil slinger

I have a new engine going in a 99 jeep, the oil slinger off my old engine spins freely on the new engines crank shaft. should it be tight? is the old one wore out maybe? do I even need the slinger? should I buy a new one?

I believe that when you tighten down the crank pulley/vibration dampener it will be tight. Most oil slingers regardless of where they are work in the same way

It's my bet its fine. Been a while since I've been in any engine and havn't done much on a 4.0, but It's my bet it's fine.
