Had an unusual experience today with my cherk. I was driving down a local dirt road. nothing too crazy. i heard the motor start ticking. I clutched in and gave it a rev to make sure my mind wasnt messing with me and sure enough the valves were tapping. i looked at my oil pressure, saw the guage pegged at zero and immidietly shut it down. check my oil and it was full. oil pressure usually a little below 40 at idle and around 60 driving. after being pulled back to the road by a toyota , i cranked the motor so i could have some breaks again and the guage went back to normal and all noised went away.
My question is has anyone ever experienced this before. and does anyone know what it could be? Oil pump on its way out? maybe a clog somewere?

IMOP I would get the pressure tested and go from there. But it sounds like a pump going out.

Sounds like it is about to completely go on you. Or you had some sludge let go and block it, I would think it would have to be a lot for it to do that.

Ok, mine idles at 20-25psi at idle 40-50 driving with 5w30 in it.
