I'm just getting around to fixing a hole I put in my oil pan a couple years ago. (darn good trail-fix to last that long...) Anyway, since the pan is off I'm planning on replacing the rear main since it's leaking a bit. (I know, shocker.) I just read something in JP that the 4.0 suffers from oil pump failures above 140K miles. My question is, should I swap it to since I'm already in there? It has 153k on it and was running fine. Has anyone ever had one puke? I'm just curious.

yes, use a melling Standard Volume........To have it apart and not replace it is just crazy...
A oil pump is always pumping dirty oil so any gear pump getting dirty un filtered oil will wear........In ANY motor not just jeeps.......
I have a New RMS, 1 Piece Rubber pan gasket and Melling pump ready to go in.
