Since my current task was called on account of sudden weather, and my next task is worrying me a little, I figured I might as well ask a question or two.
95 Jeep XJ, 4.0, Automatic. It's got the idiot lights, and I've got what I hope is a compatible gauge cluster here, and a new sensors for the gauges.
Now, at some point, the clip on the plug that's attached to the vehicle wiring for my oil pressure sender broke off. I have searched, and every time I find a replacement connector with wires, it has two wires.
My connector only has one wire.
Is this normal, or is something even more broken than I originally thought?
The fact that everyone seems to be selling two-wire plugs as compatible is officially baffling, though.
I'm guessing that this is now a situation where I'll need to zip-tie/tape/something and pray it holds while I trek through various junkyards in search of one that is compatible and isn't broken, then? Because I can probably do that.
Maybe I'm missing search terms, though. I think my various searches eventually led me to 'oil pressure sender pigtail' or 'oil pressure sender wire harness', which might be leading me astray.
The connector on the sender unit is most likely just a simple spade connector. Since you are putting in a new dash, you can easily just run a single wire from the dash gauge (splice it into the appropriate wire in the dash connector) to the sender unit. Just crimp a female spade receiver on the wire and pop it on the sender.
