Default Oil pressure random jump to 80

I was driving my 2000 Jeep Cherokee and then I looked down and I see that the oil pressure is on 80 when it is usually around 40 to 50 while I'm driving so I pull over and check the fluid level and it is fine and I've been driving it around and it doesn't seem to hit 80 psi anymore what could be the cause? Thanks

I came here to answer your question, but I see you are too lazy to bother with punctuation, so I can't be bothered with you.

Check the connector on the sending unit. Loose, corrsion, dirt, etc. Could have just been a glitch in the sender itself. Not the most reliable things. If your really concerned hook up a mechanical gauge to verify the pressure.

I've read they peg at 80 when they're getting ready to poop the bed. Thought I've heard of people replacing them and doing the same thing so you could have a voltage issue.

When I bought my WJ the oil pressure was all over the place, 80 - 0psi. Just bounced around. Did a bunch of research, ended up just buying a new sender/sensor, whichever. Little plug that screws in to the block.

That fixed it. $30. Make sure to get the 3 prong.

And make sure all your oil has settled down for a while when you pull it out. I spaced and ended up spilling a little oil.

I think they leak through the electrical prongs when they go bad. When I pulled my old one there was the slightest evidence that it had leaked through one prong.
