Default Oil Pressure Guage Pegged on 80???

So the last two days my oil pressure guage has been pegged on 80. It does not move at all and the engine is running fine? Any suggestions on where to start?

Could be the sending unit.

For me it was the oil pump. Do the cheapest/easiest thing first and check the sending unit.

Happened to me also a few years back. Usually a very small piece of dirt gets stuck in the opening of the oil pressuer sending unit and the gauge peggs at 80. Dealer buddy said "you could try to clean the end, but this dosen't always work" better off replacing the sending unit. I replace the unit and haven't had any problems since.

Sending unit. When they fail, they often fail by pegging high.

I recommend purchasing this unit directly from Jeep for best reliability/accuracy/mating with your factory gauge. An extra $20.00 but worth every penny.
