Default Oil, Lube and Filter

We (and our 2001 Jeep Cherokee Sport) are living in Mexico. In the States when I took the Jeep in for service I just assumed everyone knew what an oil, lube and filter meant. Here - I can't make the same assumption.

I'm ok with the oil part and the filter part - but what exactly is a lube on a 2001 Jeep Cherokee ? Are there places (nipples ?) where a mechanic needs to attach a grease gun ? If so - where are they and how many of them are there ?

Thanks.

Steering components, drive shafts, all have zerk fittings. But yes, needs a grease gun. Lay under jeep and look for all the nipples.

Depends. If u-joints and steering/suspension components have been replaced with aftermarket components, they may or may not have zerks. You're just going to have to look.

God dammit, go sit in the corner.

Look really hard too, some of the lube points are well hidden from underneath.

After completing 6 days worth of work in 3 1/2 days I'm ready to. Old fossilized grease is also a good indication of a grease fitting or zerk.

So, instead of milking the nipples, you have to add milk to them? I think is how it works....

Ya, unfortunately, the nipples on our jeeps are not self-reliant. We gotta stick tab a into slot b, and shoot the grease inside.
