Default Oil change... Winter in a different climate

Hey y'all! I gotta do an oil change this coming weekend and was wondering...

I'm in south florida and currently running 4qt Rotella t 10-30 with 1qt royal purple 10-30. It being south florid and all, is it worth it to switch to 5-30? The winters here are unpredictable.

I wouldn't bother. I plan on running 10-40 all winter up in Chicago.

it wouldn't hurt, but i'm thinking you might be over worrying about the cold. i be stationed FLA AZ TX and points abroad... never worried too much about thinner oil. come up to snow counrty it might be worth considering.

10W-40 too thick. Run 10W-30 at all times.

How so? At the most it will reduce fuel economy a very slight amount. The cold viscosity will be the same, just a tad thicker when hot. I run every vehicle I drive harder than most and always run 10-40 in engines that spec for 10-30.
