so while im driving my gauges will all drop out or sometimes just the speed and rpm. The air bag light goes on as well. I try restarting it with the same occurrence and then it will fix itself. Where should I look to diagnose? The speed sensor?

 

It is the connector on the back of the gauge cluster. If i hit my dash everything will come back on. I think there is a TSB to fix it.

 

Agreed, the post-97 Cherokees tend to have an issue with the connector behind the instrument cluster working itself free. Some found you can fix it by firmly pressing on the cluster.

 

Haha nice, thanks for the advice. I would responded sooner but I've been caught up on the 7 day a week work grind. Glad it isn't a major issue to worry about.
