Default O2 Sensor Socket - Short or Long?

I need to replace the downstream O2 sensor and wanted to know which type socket would be best suited for it (long or short style). Any preferences?

I's been a very long time, (probably too long!). It would be long. I think I ended up putting a wrench on it. Guess there is also a special long socket that accommodates the wires. Somebody here should know better.

Would you get it hot and hit it with PB or something first?

I have the O2 sensor socket and wrench. All O2 sensors are 7/8" and prior to acquiring these specialty tools (available at any auto parts store), I used a wrench. Just undo the harness and slide the boxed end over the wires... Or cut the wires as stated above.
