Default O2 Sensor Issue

Okay so I have checked the fuses and those are good. Just bought a new 02 Sensor and about to install it, but my check engine light just went off. So now am I still looking at a bad O2 sensor or a short somewhere? From the code error P0132 I know its the upstream sensor. Any help or ideas?

So can these just be cleaned off?

Is it just a huge scam when they say to just spend $70 to replace one?

Well I personally couldnt tell if anything was wrong with mine but i replaced it anyways seeing as i have 197k on it. It might have been a loose wire but so far no check engine light.
