Default O2 sensor harness shredded, what to do?

The harness for the o2 sensor on the cat came apart and shredded on my drive shaft. Can I spice a new one from the jy onto it? Its the plastic part that holds the wires that clips them together. Its on a 96 XJ.

Yea that's what I would do. Some of the cheaper "universal" O2 sensors actually require you cut the harness to splice them into your wiring. I almost bought one by mistake. I would say go to the JY and clip a connector, you'll probably get it for next to nothing. Just make sure you wire them up correct or who knows what'll happen when you plug it in. And this time zip tie it somewhere so when your driveshaft gets hungry it doesn't eat your wiring.

I have an extra plug cut from a stock o2 sensor if it is the same as a 99 Xj and I think it is.It was cut right at the sensor so the wires are full length. Let me know if you need it.

I'm befuddled by all the threads I read about downstream O2S harnesses being ripped out by the driveshaft. Dosen't anyone have the downstream O2S bracket installed?

Here's the '99 Downstram O2S connector (body harness) pinout and the O2S circuit diagram.

Often it's hard to disdinguish the wire colors, so look at the diagram and see if your colors actually match up. I'll bet the do.

Look at the image of the downstream connector pinout. That's looking at the body haness connector, not the O2S.

The O2S connector wires connect to the body harness connector in the following ways:

Body harness connector CAV 1 gets O2S connector Gray wire, CAV 2 gets the Black wire, CAV 3 gets the white wire, and CAV 4 gets the other White wire. Don't mix up the White wires.

CAV 2 is the ground for the the O2S heater. CAV 1 is power to the O2S heater.

Arrow nearly impossible to find replacement O2 sensor harness

been to 2 junkyards and did extensive Google searches for this O2 sensor wiring harness. On my 99 Cherokee you can disconnect and remove the wiring near the distribute and replace But Jeep doesnt make the part and Google searches have been worthless.
going to try Car-Parts.com and call Junkers in person to see if I can get the unit without splicing

You are going to have to wire it yourself, or pay someone else $80.+ per hour to do it.

Pinout for downstream O2 Sensor 1999 xj

1: Dark Green / White
2: Black
3: Brown / Yellow
4: Tan / White

Splicing a wire isn't a big deal. Solder and heat shrink it, or just use heat shrink butt connectors.

And a bonus. Go to this page to download a full 1999 tech manual.
