I'm trying to remove my NSS to clean it, but I can't seem to get it off. I've taken the following steps:
1. Unhook the wire harness under the engine
2. Remove the 12 mm bolt that fastens it to the transmission
3. Remove the retaining nut
After that, I have threaded the retaining nut back on halfway in order to pry it off, using the lip of the transmission case as leverage. All that did was bend my screwdriver. I can turn it a little bit both ways, but when I try to pull it off (straight off), it doesn't budge AT ALL. It doesn't even feel like it's supposed to come off. Am I missing something? Please help! I am beyond frustrated with this thing.

I was able to get it partially off with a screwdriver using the case as leverage. I then had to put a piece of wood to move the leverage point.
As far as a suggestion, ... pb blaster maybe.
Perhaps post a photo to make sure we are on the same page.

you can get a screw driver on either side of it to pry it off. use two srcrewdrivers (one on either side), it has to come straight out, and since you have the retaining nut on a lil bit it will have to be even straighter.
edit: another trick i used when i had to change mine out. Have the retaining nut on a little, use a pair of vice grips to lock on to the retainer, then either leverage or bump the grips with your fist.

Thanks, guys. I never was able to get it off, but upon reading the article posted by Blue, I saw where it might not be necessary. The guy that wrote the article said it may just need to be adjusted. Loosen the bolt, turn the NSS, and tighten it back up. That seems to have worked for me. Hopefully that did it and this doesn't reoccur.
