Default NSS Test?

'91 Sport. Reverse lights are not working. Bulbs are good. No fuses blown. Because of the same issue, I cleaned the NSS a couple years ago, but pulled it today to see if it needed it again. It's still spotless and with a nice light coating of dielectric grease. All contacts seem to be in good condition, the two with springs are in good condition and the correct height.

Anyone know which wires to test the NSS to see if it's got continuity when in reverse?

Thanks!

Pins A-E are for reverse. If you search the web on "1991 jeep cherokee nss wiring" you'll get the complete pinout diagram. The NSS also has an adjustment. I had to tweak my '88 a few times after cleaning to get it right.

Thank you. The lights do not illuminate at any point during shifting which indicates it isn't a matter of adjustment.

I have since powered the green/brown wire on the lights side of the switch plug and the lights illuminate. This indicates that the switch or wiring prior to the switch plug has a problem.

I have intended to install a switch on the dash to illuminate the reverse lights since I incorporated a backup LED floodlight on the bumper, so I think at this point I'll do it and bypass the reverse light aspect of the NSS.

Cheers!
