ok so I am in the midst of adjusting the NSS on my 01 cherokee sport(4.0)
I took it off, cleaned it, put it all back together with diletric grease.
Now before I pulled it, the jeep would not start in neutral, it did start in park, and if I pushed forward on the shift when going in reverse I would get the reverse lights to work. but as soon as I let go of the shirter the lights would go back off. so I was/am sure it was just out of adjustment.
so now, I have it adjusted to where it starts in park, and neutral, but no matter which way I turn or adjust the NSS I cannot get the reverse lights to flicker, come on, or even tell me where I need to be.
I have tried moving it to both ends of the adjustment capability, and no where in between do the reverse lights come on! I found the spot like I said where it fires right up in park and neutral though...
any ideas whats going on?

to add, and not sure which pins to check for continuity.
but when I had it apart, I noticed one of the the contacts that sit in the armature with the spring had grooves wore into it. like from rubbing against the contacts on the backing plate. also the backing plate contacts looked to have a groove wore on them too. not sure if my NSS is just wore out in the reverse area or not.
I dont have an idea of which pins to check while because the diagrams I found were for the older style nss....

Thanks man! I looked for a good 25-30 min for that diagram!! I kept finding the diagrams for the old style connectors!
Anyway, after about 45 min and a bout of cursing the damn thing, the wife was inside the jeep with the thing in the on position, and in reverse we were not touching nothing and bam...they came on!
had her check park, neutral and reverse again and tightened her down! works great now!
I think next time I am at the pick n pull I will go ahead and snag a spare just for safe measure. I tested it and all is working now..but I am concerned with the grooved wore into the copper contacts.
all is well for now though!
thanks for the diagram! I will be saving that!
