Default NSS blowing #10 fuse?

Hey guys, I just bought a 98 sport and overall the thing runs like a top except this problem Im having.

I bought the car and the PO told me it had some check engine light codes and I forgot to ask him for them when I left. The check engine light isnt on so Im assuming he had them cleared and I cant pull them again or are they still saved? I called him back to ask what they were but he already tossed the info on the codes.

When I bought the car it wasnt shifting into overdrive, so I did a little searching and found to check the #10 fuse and sure enough that was the problem. That worked for about 3 days until yesterday when it blew again but now when I replace the fuse, every time I shift to reverse it blows the fuse again.

Could this be a dirty NSS pulling too many amps for the TRS and popping the fuse?

Could be a faulty TRS (NSS), but first check the three connectors at the trans oil dipstick tube. See if they are oil/mud soaked. Check for chafed wiring going from the connectors down to the trans (has happened before) and from the connectors to the harness along the firewall.

You may want to disconnector the TRS connector and check for corroion in the pins and cavities.

TRS connector may be Black in your XJ.

I decided to pull my reverse light bulbs out and check if that was the problem before messing with the NSS. I pulled the bulbs and it didnt pop the fuse in reverse anymore, I replaced them with some new ones and so far no problems.

Ill report back if the problem comes back.
