so i just baught a 1990 xj that had a bad np242 Tcase and so i baught a used np242 and put it all together and now i cant get it to go into 2wd. if i take the linkage off the tcase the shifter goes down to 2wd but the tcase wont. i have tried prying while someone pushes on the shift (no luck), putting it in neutral and shifting back to 4wd and try 2wd (no luck) tried almost all the little tricks to get it to go but no luck. do i have a major problem, or is it an easy fix? ive heard the if it hasnt been used in 4x4 then they can get stuck once put in 4wd once put in, is that ture? someone please help me, im trying to go on a wheeling trip with a few buddies and they leave tm night :/ thank you for any help i get

 

Well I figured it out..I had the ARM on the tcase up-side-down haha. Rookie mistake I guess. O well.
