Default np231 shifter problems

hey guys. i put a new t case in my jeep because my old one had a slipping chain. i got it all hooked up and now i cant get the shift lever to get into the 4lo position; it stops at neutral. i dont have the linkage hooked up to the tcase yet so its not that. any ideas what is interfering with it shifting into 4 lo and what can be adjusted to remedy this? thanks in advance

You sure the 'new' tcase is good?

shifted ok in the junkyard. and im having problems with the linkages not the case yet. i got the upper rod adjusted so i can get the shift handle in the cab into 4lo, but the lower linkage that connects the arm on the tcase to the lever coming down from the shift assembly is about a 1/2" short of meeting the hole. i have that rod hooked up to the tcase with it in 4lo(pushes rod as far forward as possible) and it still wont meet the lever thing from the shift assembly

Mine is having similar problems. All linkages connected but transfer case won't go into 4 low. I can hold the lever and it will engage 4 low but as soon as I let go of the lever it disengages back into neutral. I'm not sure what to adjust on the linkage to correct this?

i adjusted the upper rod and made a new rod out of flat bar for the bottom. took some tinkering but it stays in 4lo now while offroad with no grinds.

my next problem. the plug for the speedometer in my truck is a 2 hole plug. the new tcase has a 3 hole plug. how can i make these two work together so my speedometer will again work? or can i swap my old ug/ tailhousing or whatever over to the new tcase?

thanks
