Default np231 rebuild

I had what both myself and a shop determined to be a bad transfer case. Symptoms were grinding and heavy vibration under load, also sounded like something was broken and rattling around in the case. I just finished taking apart the case and I really dont see anything wrong with it. How obvious will issues be? All the bearings seem smooth, only a tiny bit of metal in the magnet and the only wear I noticed was on the mode gear which is probably from shifting into 4wd improperly. Any advice on what I should look for would be greatly appreciated. Also open to it being something else besides the tcase
