nothing, nada, zilch, didley squat!
I haven't searched answers yet, but will do so after I run it by the members first. I just completed the infamous dash gauge cluster swap. I followed an earlier diy post to a tee. everything went as instructed. Plugged her back in fired her up and read my title. Lights do work, turn signals etc. What should be my order of inspection? Mine is the 96 with 4.0 high output. Cluster came from another 96.

Not sure what's infamous about a cluster swap. If you have absolutely nothing, it must not be plugged in. Assume the previous cluster (idiot lights only) was working?
it is plugged in . I have lights. nothing else works. not even speedo or tach.ive checked fuses.I did leave off the two slide clips from the center connector that secures it to cluster. I cant see how that would effect contacts. im goint to plug my old cluster back in this afternoon.

How do you know it was a good replacement cluster? Or do you know? Did you see it working in the donor vehicle?
All your sensors must match, gauges versus lights.
