Default Not The Usual Dome Light Issue...??

99 XJ....
I have an unusual dome light issue. It periodically comes on very dim with all the doors closed. It does operate correctly when any door is open but the glow of it while driving at night is annoying. I have a LED bulb in the dome light. It seems to happen more often when it rains but not always. Any advice as to what I should first be looking at? Thanks....

With the doors closed, open the cargo bay door.

Cycle the cargo bay dome light on then off. See if the problem persists.

The cabin dome light gets its ground through the cargo bay dome light switch.

Thanks! I cycled the cargo switch several times. Time will tell if this resolved the issue. What would cycling the switch actually do?

I had this issue when my rear fender wells had rust holes in them. The water would spray up in the holes and get the harness for the rear lights and dome lights wet and then the lights would glow. Mine happened in the winter when all the salt water would spray in there. My connectors corroded and I had to cut them out.

That could be it. Mine are very similar, starting to rust away. I'll have to pull the panel and check the connectors and wiring there. Not fun in the cold....
